“Don’t stop believing, hold on to that feeling…”
A well-loved line from one of Journey’s timeless hits and a gift from Arnel Pineda, its frontman, to the children of the CRIBS Foundation, Inc. last September 15.
Arnel, together with his close friends, collectively celebrated their birthdays at CRIBS, Foundation Inc. in Marikina wherein their beneficiaries included infants, toddlers, and young girls full of hope and brimming with potential.
Before the event proper, Arnel went to the nursery rooms to interact with adorable toddlers.
By 3 in the afternoon, everyone gathered at the mini-function hall to open the program starting with the adolescent group named NB Girls who energetically performed a series of songs and dance numbers for the birthday celebrants.
As a token of appreciation, Arnel played an intimate acoustic set and performed N’Sync’s This I Promise You, Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love, Rey Valera’s Kung Kailangan Mo Ako, and capped it off with Don’t Stop Believing, to which all the girls loved and sang along to.
Much to the birthday celebrants’ surprise, the NB Girls also prepared a special gift as they gave out handmade birthday cards, sweet well wishes, and a cake for each celebrant. Awed by Arnel’s talent, the children were also inspired to persevere and continuously hone their gift for performing.
Arnel was beyond grateful for the experience, citing that he was moved by the gesture and hoped to come back and visit them again someday.
“…mas na-inspire niyo kami kaysa na-inspire namin kayo” he said during his message.
The other celebrants also gave kind words of gratitude wishing everyone to remain prayerful and strong despite adversities in life. They also said that it was indeed an afternoon intended to celebrate and share the gift of life and music.
In 2010, Arnel established his own foundation, Arnel Pineda Foundation, Inc. that campaigns for adequate education, healthcare, and medical assistance for underprivileged children.
On the other hand, the CRIBS Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1974 with the mission to create a safe and nurturing home for child victims of abuse and neglect. Today, CRIBS continues to provide for children through foster care, counseling, and alternative home environment.
