Trisha Echevarria may be dead, but something came out from the ashes—ladies and gentlemen, witness as Billy Bayagan takes the crown and transforms as the wonderful Barbi!
After his back-to-back wins in the blockbuster film, Die Beautiful, Paolo Ballesteros ramps his way for another anticipating portrayal in Barbi D’ Wonder Beki produced by Octo Arts Films, M-Zet Production and T-Rex Entertainment.
This coming of age film revolves around the story of Billy Bayagan, a closeted gay in a family of strict and conservative policemen. The film delves digger about his journey of acceptance and love for his true self.
The films aims to depict the struggle to come out from the closet and how the people you love accept and embrace your true identity.
The King of Make-up Transformation explained how difficult was it for Billy to be stuck in a situation where his family disgraced him for being gay, “Unang-una mahirap yung ganun, syempre bilang tao, ang una mong ine-expect na makakaintindi sayo, masasabihan mo ng mga problema o ng kahit ano is your family.”
He also left a witty yet empowering message for people who are still in the closet, “hindi naman sinabi na kapag nasa closet ka, ang lungkot-lungkot mo sa closet, malay mo sa closet may Disneyland sa loob diba? Yung ganon na masaya ka, so hayaan natin siyang lumabas,” he emphasizes.
Ballesteros believed that in life, we all go through hardships and the clamor to prove something that would make our love ones proud.
“So yung Barbi D’ Wonder Beki, hindi naman ito puro pagpapaganda ni Barbie…At the end of the day it’s all about family. Yung tanggapin ka kung sino ka at maging masaya para sayo kung san ka masaya,” Ballesteros said.
And that’s just a gist from what we could expect from Barbi the Wonderful Beki!
Aside from the imaginative direction of Tony Y. Reyes, the whole cast is also one of the things to look out for. Among the roster are Joey de Leon, Joey Marquez, Nikki Valdez, Smokey Manaloto, Ejay Falcon, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tan Felix and Kim Domingo.
