This rolled ice cream shop melted our hearts (not our ice cream)

Who knew that ice cream would make us feel this good?

Well, ice cream has always been everyone’s best friend when it comes to comfort food. The cold and sweet sensation that melts in your mouth is enough to calm you down.

But for this ice cream shop, it’s more than just feeling good.

If you come to an ice cream shop in a mall in Makati City, you won’t just be greeted by a colorful kiosk and the smell of freshly rolled ice cream…

You will be greeted by a hearing impaired employee.

The ice cream shop is designed to be friendly to both its deaf employee and its customers. It has sign language boards up in the cashier to help its customers communicate with its employee well.

Hiring hearing impaired employees is a part of Elait’s concept to live up to its name – which means “Happy Milk”.

“Since we were focusing on the word happiness I wanted to make the concept full circle happiness. A good product, good concept, and I wanted to help others using Elait,” Francis Reyes said.

Elait currently has two deaf employees, both have just received regularization from their employers.

Apart from helping our hearing impaired friends, Elait is also supporting our farmers by using locally sourced milk from a partner farm in Laguna.

“Yung milk naming is locally sourced coz I also discovered that less than 1% of the milk comes from the Philippines that consumed here so yun we have a partner farm sa Calauan , Laguna” Reyes said.

And it’s ice cream itself, is something dessert lovers do not want to miss. Elait’s rolled ice cream is made from fresh ingredients and is made right in front of you.

You can literally see your cup of happiness being created for you and by you. Yes, you can create your own cup of rolled ice cream using the ingredients you want.

Craving for your cup of happiness? Elait is located at the Century City Mall in Makati City.

But, if that’s too far for you, no need to worry because they will be opening a branch soon at the Mall of Asia, and the 30th Mall in Pasig.

North people? Don’t worry. They’re working on it. But for now, you may visit their Zomato page to satisfy their
