I know what you’re thinking: ABS-CBN senior correspondent Julius Babao and streetwear don’t belong in the same sentence. On casual weekends, Babao fills in as DJ for Kapamilya’s radio arm DZMM.
And as far as casual goes, who knew that aside from looking dapper on nightly news, Babao is a hypebeast with a deep affinity for Supreme merch:
Of course, it got everybody talking, primarily Babao’s fellow hypebeasts. Some are impressed to the point of fascination, while a handful can’t help but let their elitist douchery flag fly:
In an interview with Scout, Babao revealed that he was actually overwhelmed with the variety of reactions from a lot of people on social media. “As Hugh Grant once said in a movie, ‘It’s surreal, but nice,’” he said.
But contrary to mainstream belief (that he’s gurang to pull the style), Babao just seemed genuinely taken with streetwear, or in his fanboy-ish case, Supreme apparel’s comfort than being part of a scene that is “heavily patronized.”
DZMM's Aksyon Ngayon will close its curtain soon. It's been an honor serving our countrymen through this wonderful show – a true vehicle for public service. Thank you DZMM / ABS-CBN management for entrusting the show to us. It's been a pleasure co-hosting it with the one and only #aksyonLady @kayedacer and our hardworking team headed by Zaldy Naguit and Paul Bea . By next week a new show will emerge that will continue #aksyonngayon 's legacy and further extend its support to those in need. Maraming Salamat sa suporta mga #kapamilya! #lingkodkapamilya #dzmm
