Sometimes, life is a bitch and we know it.
We all have our terrible days, some may have it more than those “okay” or “good” days. It’s really a bad state to be, especially for people who’ve had enough.
The state of anger depends on the person. Some prefer to bottle things in while some turn into Godzilla when they burst. If life is just being a meanie and you refuse to do the two aforementioned, you may want to consider doing the following to help you calm down:
The quickest escape to reality is lying down and sleeping. Maybe your dream will make everything better. When you wake up, things may be either better or worse, but at least the rage within you is gone. You can now face your problems logically and not emotionally.
CLOSE YOUR EYES AND COUNT TO 10
When everything is just off and you’d rather not sleep off the matter. Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Count to 10 or until you are able to calm down, or at least until the negative emotion inside you subside. Sometimes, one’s actions are taken over by emotions and we don’t want you to go blindly with your movements.
LISTEN TO MUSIC
Give yourself your own world whenever you’ve had it. Plug those earphones in and listen to music that suits what you want to do. You can listen to aggressive or upbeat music to help you let those emotions out and work through it productively. Or you can calm yourself down by listening to calm or soothing to help you calm down.
GO OUT FOR A RUN
If you’re the type who has loads of energy when pissed, you can use all those energies for something else. You can go out for a run, or visit the gym. Through that way, you are able to calm down and you are now a step closer to a healthier living.
PUNCH A PILLOW
If the gym’s not for you, then consider punching a pillow. With a little bit of imagination, think of that pillow as someone who pissed the hell out of you. Keep punching it until you’re tired. While punching it, you may realize that the anger you’re feeling may not be worth it.
LET EVERYTHING OUT IN A JOURNAL
You can also shower your emotions through a journal or a diary. Write everything down, from who or what made you angry, how and why it happened, etc. This will give you the avenue to further understand the situation you’re in.
TURN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA OFF
Sometimes, social media is the cause of all things people are pissed off about. If it is, the best thing to do is to turn off your sites and try not to look at your phone for a while. Social media is something we all can’t control. But we can control our usage of it.
PLAY WITH YOUR PET
Pets are there to make you happy no matter what. When you’re down and low, go play or even cuddle with them. Sometimes, their company is all you need to feel better.
EAT AND/OR DRINK SOMETHING
And of course, what better way to resort your anger to than food? Make sure to always have your comfort food in your locker, bag or drawer for “emergency” cases (like sudden mood change). A bite of your fave chocolate bar or chip will definitely lighten up your mood.
