Here are the must-see movies for the last leg of 2017

This year’s been kind of rough for all of us. But what better way to lighten the mood than with a brilliantly star-studded blockbuster shebang?

You got it right! The movie fever isn’t over yet. The remaining months of the year will give us a little break from our usual dreary lives by offering us blockbuster hits one after another.

To shed a little more light, here’s a short list of the soon-to-be movie hits coming your way:


Mother

Mother, from director Darren Aronofsky – known for other hits such as Noah, Black Swan, The Fighter, The Wrestler, Requiem for a Dream, starring Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem – tells the story of a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their quiet life.

Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle

The first Kingsman movie (Kingsman: The Secret Service), introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In its second installment, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the heroes face a new challenge. Directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Flatliners

A (sort of) reboot of the 1990 film, 2017’s Flatliners, directed by Niels Arden Oplev, tells the story of a group of medical students’ experiment on “near death” experiences involving past tragedies. Until their experiments take a turn for the terrifying and dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives. They begin to have flashes of nightmares from their childhood, of sins they’ve committed, or of sins that were committed against them. The experiences continue to escalate, and they begin to be physically beaten by their visions as they continue their experiment to find a cure.

Happy Death Day

In Happy Death Day, a college student (Jessica Rothe) relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.
Happy Death Day is directed by Christopher Landon, who also directed Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and written by Scott Lobdell and Christopher Landon.

The Foreigner

The Foreigner, directed by Martin Camplbell, tells the story of humble London businessman Quan, played by Jackie Chan, whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love — his teenage daughter — is taken from him in a senseless act of politically-motivated terrorism. In his relentless search for the identity of the terrorists, Quan is forced into a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (Brosnan), whose own past may hold clues to the identities of the elusive killers.

Jigsaw

In Jigsaw, aka Saw 8, and originally entitled Saw Legacy – yes, we all knew that the final Saw was not really going to be the end of that franchise – dead bodies begin to turn up all over the city, each meeting their demise in a variety of grisly ways. All investigations begin to point to deceased killer John Kramer. Jigsaw is directed by brothers Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig.

A Bad Moms Christmas

The sequel to the R-Rated Bad Moms, A Bad Moms Christmas, directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, follows our three under-appreciated and over-worked women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas.  And if creating a more perfect holiday for their families wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers.  By the end of the journey, the moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their own mothers.

Justice League

The superhero team-up movie includes Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and the Green Lantern, among others.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Pitch Perfect 3

In Pitch Perfect 3, situated after winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make kick-ass music and some questionable decisions, one last time.
