Seven Pinoy loveteams that we terribly miss *reunion pls*

We Filipinos are known to be MASSIVE fans of OTPs or One True Pair or what we call loveteams. Don’t even think about denying it, at one point in your life – you have supported at least one Filipino loveteam.

Loveteams in the country are supported by thousands of fans and flooded with various endorsements, TV series, movies – and even recording albums, and rest assured that these will garner high ratings and sales for the network or company they work for.

Gerald Anderson – Kim Chiu (Kimerald)

The Kim Chui and Gerald Anderson tandem inside the Big Brother house back in 2006 at the Pinoy Big brother teen edition where Kim became the first teen big winner. The two have shared a handful of teleseryes and movies together including their most iconic – Paano na Kaya? – A story of best friends falling in love.

The two became a couple in real life but eventually broke up – then came along “Till my heartaches end” the end of the Kimerald Tandem in 2010.

Six years after, Dreamscape announced a reunion project for Kimerald set in 2017. The two were also spotted in the latest ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID.

Marvin Agustin – Jolina Magdangal

The iconic 90s loveteam Marvin and Jolina had a series of shows and movies that brought out their effortless chemistry. The two stared in 199d in Flames the movie in 1997 and the romantic comedy series Labs ko si Babe in 1999. And who would ever forget Jolina’s legendary line from Labs Kita, Okay Lang? back in 1998??

“Yes kaibigan mo ko … kaibigan mo LANG ako … And that’s all I ever was to you Ned – you’re best friend. Takbuhan mo kapag may problema ka … Taga-sunod … Taga-bigay ng advice … Taga-enroll … Taga-gawa ng assignment … Taga-pagpatawa sa iyo kapag nalulungkot ka … Taga-tanggap ng kahit na ano … And I’m so stupid for making the biggest mistake of falling in love with my best friend … Dahil kahit kailan hindi mo naman ako makikita eh … Kahit kailan hindi mo ako kayang mahalin na higit pa sa isang kaibigan …”

It’s kinda sad that Marvin and Jolina didn’t end up together in real life. Jolina is now married with one child, while Marvin has twins form a past relationship.

The loveteam reunited in ABSCBN’s afternoon teleserye Flordeliza in 2014-2015

John Lloyd Cruz – Bea Alonzo

If you don’t know who Basha and Popoy is, you might as well pack your bags and leave right this instant. The John Lloyd and Bea love team began  in the teleserye Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay and since then the two were flooded with projects both in film and television. To name a few of their teleseryes are Maging Sino Ka Man and I <3 Betty la Fea – a Filipino adaptation of Ugly Betty. Their loveteam celebrated their 10th anniversary with a move called The Mistress. Their latest project was the sequel of One More Chance, A Second Chance in 2015.

Sandara Park – Hero Angeles

Before Sandara Park became Dara of 2NE1 (which broke up in November. *cries*), she was a contestant of Star Circle Quest in 2004 where she met her ka-loveteam Hero Angeles. Their loveteam only lasted for a short period from 2004 to 2006, They starred in two movies, Because of You in 2004 and Can this be Love in 2005.

Lea Salonga – Aga Mulach

“Team Babes” may now be one of our titos and titas in the entertainment industry, but they were one of the most talked about loveteams in the 1990s. Team Babes stared Labis Kitang Mahal in 1992 until 1993, and even blockbuster film Sana Maulit Muli in 1995. Their loveteam was supposed to have a reunion this year, but there remains to be no update on the matter. And if you’re going to ask if the two actually dated in real life? Well, there’s no confirmation of that either.

Piolo Pascual – Judy Ann Santos

Piolo Pascual and Judy – Ann Santos Agoncillo have shared a handful of movies like Esperanza, Kahit Isang Saglit, Bakit ‘di Totohanin, Till there was you, and their last movie: Don’t Give Up On Us in 2006 – that was directed by Joyce Bernal.

One of the biggest loveteams in the 1990s reunited in Sun Life’s Money for Life event this year.

“She’s a big part of my career. We did a lot of movies and TV shows together. Napakalaki ng utang na loob ko kay Juday,” Piolo said.

We hope to see these two in a reunion movie or teleserye someday. *Hi, ABS-CBN*

Rico Yan – Claudine Barretto

The Rico – Claudine loveteam was the definition of relationship goals in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The real life couple starred in Mula sa Puso and the blockbuster hit Got 2 Believe in 2002 – which unfortunately is their last movie together. On Good Friday of 2002, Rico was found dead inside his room during their barkada vacation in Palawan. Thus, ending their loveteam in such an unfortunate way.

Just this year, Claudine reminisced her relationship with Rico by posting the young man’s love letters back in the days. Talk about tear-jerking moments, fam <//3
