Oh, the joy of class suspensions, especially if it came after a long weekend. Which means you can have your staycation longer than expected.
The hashtag #walangpasok makes its way into social media whenever the weather’s grumpy, causing heavy rains and floods that hinder the way to either school or work. Most news outlets use this tag in announcing class suspensions.
But, what is the advantages and disadvantages whenever #walangpasok comes along? Check out the list below!
The biggest advantage of them all. The class suspension may have just saved you from a graded recitation, quiz, or an exam even. Which means you have more time to study and prep up for your grade (that is if you’re not too lazy to do it).
/Netflix/ and chill
And if you don’t have any pending activities for academics, this means you get an entire day all to yourself. You can catch up on your favorite series, kdramas, and movies throughout the cuddle weather. Grab that popcorn bowl!
Let’s be real, the rainy weather doesn’t help with being productive at all. The cold weather just wants you to curl up in your fuzzy blanket, holding up a cup of hot chocolate and doze off right after. Class suspensions is a great time to catch up the sleep we missed because of mountain loads of readings and academic work.
When the weather is really bad it causes us to stay at home (even if we really don’t want to.) But hey! This means you can do two (and more) of the pros of #walangpasok.
A baon-less day
No school means no baon from your folks. Which also means you won’t have the extra moolah to spend on your weekend out with your barkada, or miscellaneous fees for the rest of the week. But, that’s okay (I guess) you’ll get your baon when you have…
Oh dear. Class suspensions mean makeup classes, especially in college. You would’ve had to make up for everything that you guys missed because of the bad weather. And what’s worse? Makeup classes either fall at night or during the weekends (mostly Saturdays). There goes your schedule.
Some have it worse than us
And while we’re enjoying the whole #walangpasok thing. Some people aren’t. Some of us have their house flooded in, while some can’t make a living because of the flood. A lot of people are affected by the bad weather, and a lot of them are affected negatively. So let’s not hope for a lot of #walangpasok days for the benefit of all.
