LISTEN: Taylor Swift drops new track ‘…Ready For It?’

After premiering half of the song for ESPN’s Alabama vs. Florida State college football promo, Taylor Swift shared the full version of ‘…Ready For It?’ Sunday evening. The title is the second release off her ‘Reputation’ album out on November 10th.

Much like Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do,’ the newly released record fits in the recurring theme of the singer-songwriter’s new sharp-edged and ‘dark’ era.

However, the lines, “In the middle of the night / In my dreams / You should the things we do, baby / In the middle of the night / In my dreams / I know I’m gonna be with you so I’ll take my time / Are you ready for it?” screams peculiarly Taylor. Yes, the dead Taylor.

Swift isn’t particularly new to rapping, but this seems like the initial attempt at resonating with the new direction she’s establishing.

With sly references based on Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor’s ever controversial relationship, the song’s verses were full of blunt lyrics narrating Swift’s ‘failed romances’ and ‘games’ she claims to know all too well.
Within the 24 hours of its release, …Ready For It has raked in over 3 million views on YouTube.
