Makati workers and residents, as well as folks from other cities in the Metro and beyond have been wondering if the traditional Christmas lights in the Ayala Triangle will push through given physical distancing guidelines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some have even gone on road trips to the heart of the Makati Central Business District just to check if there are lights inside, or even along Ayala Avenue.
Well folks, sad to say that there will be no lights show this year (awww).
The organizers, however, have put up a virtual light show on the Make It Makati Facebook page to keep the tradition alive even as the threat of the virus continues to linger.
Those who have physically returned to work in their Makati offices, though, can still get a glimpse of Christmas lights along Ayala Avenue, but it isn’t as bright as before.
Hats off to those behind those who thought of the virtual light show. It’s a great effort, indeed. But of course, nothing beats the real thing, which we all hope to resume next year, especially that a vaccine that will end this downer may be just in sight. 🙂
