Beauty junkies are going gaga over Rihanna’s “Fenty Beauty” makeup line for a good reason.
September 8, 2017 was a landmark date for beauties of all colors. Musician and fashion icon Rihanna released a makeup line called “Fenty Beauty”, which she developed for two years with over 40 shades of foundation.
In the long history of cosmetics, no other brand has come close to achieving what Riri did. Gone are the days of relentlessly searching in the beauty aisles for the perfect shade, only to be disappointed in the end.
Not only a change in the world of cosmetics, Fenty Beauty has made a huge impact in diversity. In a video interview of Rihanna she stated that, “I wanted things that I love. Then I also wanted things that girls of all skin tones could fall in love with. That was really important for me. In every product I was like, ‘There needs to be something for a dark-skinned girl, there needs to be something for a really pale girl, there needs to be something in-between.’ There’s red undertones, green undertones, blue undertones, pink undertones, yellow undertones — you never know, so you want people to appreciate the product and not feel like: ‘Oh that’s cute, but it only looks good on her.”
It’s not just a beauty (r)evolution. The inclusivity of Riri’s line has empowered women of all shades and colors to even more step out and strut their stuff.
The make-up line did not only provided women a wide range of foundation shades but also a common ground for their make-up experience. Two years in the making, ladies, Riri was listening.
