Sometime ago, I took on Nak Nam Fu-Cha milk tea in Tondo to see if I would react with such profanity.
This time around, I tried another milk tea sensation that’s making buzz in the metro – Tiger Sugar. I had the opportunity to go their Glorietta outlet, which is the closest to our Makati office.
I was a bit hesitant to try this since some of my acquaintances tried this before, but ended up giving it a thumbs down. But given the milk tea lover that I am, I gave it a chance.
Before heading to the Glorietta stall, I was warned about the long lines that some people experienced queing up for 30 minutes to an hour, which definitely would test your patience and perseverance. It will make you wonder if it is still worth trying.
Luckily, the line wasn’t that long when I got there. I was the 10th person in the line. Good thing, too, that their staff approached me while I was in the queue. At least, I’d pay and get my order in one go upon reaching the counter.
Since their menu is a bit overwhelming, I just asked instead what their bestseller is and it happened to be the sugar series. I ended up ordering the Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cream Mousse for Php120.
I was a bit surprised to learn that they only have one size. Not every milk tea drinker has the same level of appetite, so I hope Tiger Sugar would improve in this aspect.
After taking your order and paying for it, your number will flash on a screen, which is your cue to get your most awaited milk tea.
I found the sweetness to be somewhat special, as I found that rich creamy feeling that’s not that sweet, but still addictive compared to other milk teas I’ve tasted before. It also had that good roasted taste. For best-tasting results, shake your cup before sipping.
If comparing Tiger Sugar to Nak Nam Fu-Cha, it will depend on your preference and location. Both have good quality of milk tea. Nak Nam Fu-Cha is also cheaper by nearly half. But overall, my vote goes to Tiger Sugar. I love its unique taste that makes me crave for more. Its tapioca pearls are very soft, chewy, and not sticky. I can definitely say that their pearls were perfectly cooked. I tasted their milk tea for the second time around and I know that every peso is definitely worth the price.
My overall experience is satisfying that I’d definitely come back for more.
